ring back later!Did it work
Whats the worst that could happen? It trips the fuse?
So with the light working and been working since i connected is that ok now then or can problems woth wiring sit there and cause a problem later.Tripping a fuse is far from the worst thing that can happen. The worst that could happen when working with electricity is that you or a member of your family receives an electric shock which could be fatal as a result of your mistake or you not noticing a fault which was pre-existing.
you mean on the new one? If so yes its fitted to the middle hole. 2 nuetrals/blue in the other and the live/brown in the other.op was the earth in play when you changed the light fitting?
should be fine. thing is.if a spark had changed the light, he/she would have checked (with a meter) that the circuit had no faults. this is something that a DIYer could not do. however, it'sunlikelythat the circuit has a fault unless someone's been messing around.you mean on the new one? Its been on for around 5 to 6 hours constantly now so surely if was a problem it would have happened by now. Fingers crossed all ok going forward. Thanks a lot for your help today mate. It doesn't work that way. If, for example, the luminaire wasn't adequately earthed it would not be noticed until a fault developed within it rendering the luminaire live. You would never know until you came into contact with it.Its been on for around 5 to 6 hours constantly now so surely if was a problem it would have happened by now. So because of the confusion with the 2 blue wires and no definitive markings to say if live or another nuetral then im guessing its best to get it checked out? When you say come into contact with it do you mean someone could get an electric shock from switching it on or just as bad, spark something within the house weather switched on or not?It doesn't work that way.
