I've noticed the worlds leading authority on PIRs has been showing his feline face on this forum again, might be worth asking him for some advice.
There's nobody quite like Top Cat when it comes to PIRs.
 
Just seen this thread, and had same problem with pir relay failing after about 3 months although was switching 1500w halogen and was rated at 2000w, ended up fitting a Steinal, which has never failed but very expensive!
Also I think if you fitted a contactor to relay outputs of PIR , its surely only powering the coil to bring contactor in, thus really small load and should last for ever .
But the arse ache and additional cost of fitting , means it might be easier to fit something like the Steinal.

Steinel are the dogs danglies. Have fitted their gear in commercial environments where it needs to be a cut above. Yes they are expensive (60 quid for an equiv. tenner at homebase security light) but they.... Last
