Have noticed now by doing lots of jobbing that there are 3 types of customers.

One type is really concious and wants the best equipment and peace of mind for safety, the flip side to these customers is that they are really fussy and look over you when you are doing the job and ask so many questions that it slows you down.
They don't seem to haggle much on price as spec and quality of work is what they are paying for.

The other type just want the job done using any equipment, you give them a cert that they chuck in the kitchen draw that will eventually end up in the bin.
They want the cheapest price and would not really be bothered if you leave their CU the wrong way up!

The other is the DIYer, these are the nightmare job. loads of interconnections and branches all over the place.
I normally visit these jobs when they have made a mare.

What other customers do you guys experience.

I have one who loves the work when im doing it and finished, but once he gets his invoice he calls me back to alter something before he will pay.

DIYers who have done their research can do a better job than a Electrical Trainee who just wants to get paid. Tin hat and flak jacket on.

4) Average council house tenants

No we didn't break your TV, no we didn't steel £3.50 change from you and no we didn't put a load of smoke holes in your carpet....and that's before you've even arrived at the job

the worst I had......7 bed live in rewire.......it's was all positive & negative he was calling line & neutral!!......then in one evening started wiring the new consumer unit......cut majority of them short got his "negatives" mixed up with his "positives"....... Then started adding circuits in the cellar using the old rubber that had been ripped out.....!
