hi guys,

i am looking at joining elecsa but was wondering what are the questions you get asked in the assessment like? are they about testing ? Regs? any advice would be great.

you get asked any question out of the BRB and Building Regs..!! if you dont know the answer you can look it up... thats all they ask from you , not trying to catch you out..! also ask you about Volt Drop and Cable carrying Capacitys (well i did) and what size cable and MCB would a 9.5kw shower need if it was 15 m from DB

seriously its not hard to pass but you need to be able to reference every thing if you dont know it...!

questions on testing were how do you do a Ring Test and ZS / ZE and prefroem a RCD test... nothing hard all simple things.. he uses teh fuse box that you did work on to allow you to show him...!

Durham, did he ask you to do calculations for voltage drop, or just where to look in the regs?

he asked me what the answer was...


he dont care where the answer comes from as long as its right!!

i went straight to TLC Direct Technical section of the website and it give sme "Volt drop , Cable size and also Watts Pulled, and Breaker size)
lets say he was impressed!!!

They asked be about zoning in bathrooms, safezones for your cables and basic everyday things regarding working pratices.
