Discuss Electric cooker removal in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi,the most relevant part of this quandary,is the date at which the tenancy ends,or has ended.

Generally,before this,you would have done a hand-over inspection.
If this was not done or agreed, and the tenancy has ended, your Landlord/lady can choose any method of work,at the property, and you may be left to contest any future costs,if forwarded, using the normal means.

Was the cooker an agreed addition,or replacement?

The regulations (which are essentially non statutory) tend to cover installing rather than dismantling. So do not see a reason why this insistence from the owner. Did you install it?

That said, I have seen a free standing cooker removed by someone idiotically cutting through the feed to the cooker just under the face plate of the connection unit. As this was free standing, with a flick of the switch there was 240V sitting there roughly at the height of a curious 5yr old.

If you installed it, then I see no reason for you not to be allowed to remove it. Just make sure your other half does it properly.

Also check the terms of your tenancy agreement, in case it contains a clause stating any electrical work must be carried out by an electrician, or similar. This may originate from her landlord's insurance policy.
