Hello, new to the forum so have a quick question, I have just completed 22 years as a Electrical and Mechanical Engineer in the Britsh Army (REME), I have a full Auto Electrical Aprenticeship, Electrical and Electronic Engineering C&G Level 3 quals and have recently completed 17th Edition, Part P and C&G 2391 Level 3. My experience ranges from Generators, AC/DC Motors, field electrical power distribution systems, wiring or powering deralict/blown up buildings with safe supply ect ect ect, I am currently studying a B Tech advanced diploma in electrical installations and design (NVQ Level 3), my question is where do I stand in the eyes of a fully qualified electrician and I know the difference between an Electrician and a Part P domestic installer, am I close to becoming a recognised Electrician?

I would imagine that most organisations would accept your qualifications.
However the JIB appear to be the most particular in my experience.
Do your C&G quals end in 7? If so, you may have to get confirmation from C&G that they are equivelant to civillian qualifications.
I imagine that you were ranked at least WOI or WOII, so may well be eligable for membership of the IET, which may be of some help, if you intend applying for a JIB card.
Here's a link to a recruitment agency: Ex military jobs, jobs for ex military, jobs for ex forces, ex-military jobs, ex-military careers and jobs, which may or may not be of some use?

Thanks for the info Spinlondon, bit delayed in reply but been working away, just a quick one just got my ECS/JIB card back grading me Electrical Fitter (Gold card), I 've got a job lind up as a building maintenance engineer in a industrial/factory building with a couple of offices attached, will the grading cover me if asked to produce, the work is easy enough machine maintenance, maybe some small installations, bit of fault finding and some 3 phase work but mainly building maintenance, want to stay the right side of the line, Cheers
