Marvo, is it actual copper conduit or did you just raid a plumber for some 22mm pipe? :D
Valid question and you're almost right. Some of it was 22mm plumbing pipe and some in 3/4 hard drawn refrigeration pipe which was close enough to being 20mm and would accept fittings or could be threaded after swaging very slightly. The refrigeration pipe came in 6 m lengths which saves a lot of hassle on longer runs

Not totally sure, but seem to remember the friend working on that project saying that the bronze-alloy conduit boxes were via soldered (or whatever) connections.

Is the point of copper conduit instead of steel simply the appearance as it ages, or is the better conductivity a factor as well?

Both, but the conductivity, and therefore the lower Zs values obtained, will be out of this world compared with steel conduit!! lol!!

After my earthing argument / discussion I have decided to run a length of silver conduit from my house back to the substation for a tasty Ze, and it has the bonus of looking nice and shiny alongside the road. I know people go round nicking copper so I thought that would be a silly material to run in public. :D
