Discuss Green black Green grey Cable in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Had a look today it's all coming out and been rewired it looks like it's cpc and single but didn't investigate to much as it was coming out anyway and it was to the lighting

Lighting in my house is wired in single sheathed cables, but as has been said above it is normally grey sheath with a red or a black inside it, and possibly a CPC. Never seen this stripy stuff. Do let us know what it was connect to!

The OP also mentions "quite a few reds about as well" I agree with PEG the CU would confirm or not whether the cable are what some of us think they are, you also need to take Westy's comment about never seeing mains cables with a green stripe running through them, a good spot, this was posted last Friday, you would have thought the OP would have come back to us by now. May be he has lost interest, as I am , gradually, come on OP open up.

Sorry for the late reply been really busy on this not really got down to the route of it as the cosumer unit is a bit of a mess... the lights have been rewired now... it looks like the green and black are cpc but not had a close look as been pushed for time will be hopefully doing a board change within the next couple of weeks so will have a better look then

Ok guys had a good look today the green and grey was live and cpc the green and black was cpc and neutral I've never seen this before few pics to follow yes I know there's no sleeving on the earth yet

I've never seen wiring like that... looks like solid copper conductors, not copper coated aluminium.
