Just wondering if any of you have used an introductory letter to introduce you to different clients and if it worked at all.

How much detail do you give them? Would you provide pricing info, photos and testimonials from previous work etc?

Not done this, but do not go overboard, always leave them wanting more!
But mainly emphasise the quality and range of the work that can be done and say reasonable pricing, direct them to a website if applicable and give full and clear contact details.
Remember your unique selling point and tailor the approach to the client.
