Been asked to quote a job - total rewire of four flats. As individual flats it's all very straight forward, ring, lighting, shower etc. However UK Power networks are installing a new head and meters for the whole block on the ground floor.

Obviously the distance to the top flat is going to be at least 10 metres. In terms of bringing up the meter tails do I have to put in an isolator every 3m or what?

Only one fused switch per set of tails ( Isolator is not a protection device) at the origin if the installation is all that is required

Now depending on your cable choice, method of erection and earthing system, these factors will determine what protection device you can use

Cor blimey guvnor, strike a bleedin lite I thinks its a fused switch at the origin or I'll be a Marry Poppins...oi you, take a look at my "william" 12inches folded in half!!! ahhhhhhhh

There is no regulation, well not in the BS 7671-2008 at least.

The 3-5 metre length is normally a DNO requirement. The OSG does advise this in section 2.2.3, but there is no actual length advised, just to contact the DNO
