Working on an installation today. Noticed a circuit which is not connected to my work (different circuit). 1.5mm T&E (Ref method A) for upstairs lights fed off (I presume a hidden JB as nothing is visible) a FRC and protected by a 32A MCB. It's not been fused down, at least no FCU visible. No RCD protection.

I'm guessing under fault conditions the cable will melt and the house will catch fire before the MCB ever trips. Have to tell the customer, but as it's 'only' a holiday home (rented out though) they wont be that bothered (already experienced their lassez-faire attitude). Customers, don't you just love em'!

Make sure you cover your backside here mate, you know how it goes....."you were the last one there" etc.

Document everything, issue an EDN if you have to but get them to sign something.
