Have installed a warm white t5 fitting in an alcove , although I think it throws out a nice warm light , customer would like it a little duller ! Is their any time of diffuser I can buy or something I could use to do this ?

A smaller wattage lamp is needed by the sound of it, re-price to fit a new Light

We often use polycarb sleeves for T5 and T8 fluorescents in cold storage lighting. They come with silicone rubber end caps and they're called safety sleeves because they're primarily to contain the glass in the event of a tube shattering. We always use the clear ones but they do come in a full range of colours.

*Edit* Here's one UK supplier, I'm sure there's many others
