From their email this morning:

We are delighted to announce that NICEIC have partnered with Rated People to offer you a one month free trial, helping you find work all year round.

What a dark day.

When I see such "ideas" my heart sinks and thinks of brown envelopes passed under the table.

Come on Elecsa/ECA/NICEIC spend some of our money doing "direct" marketing to Joe Public

I see all those rated people stickers on old vans and wonder,do they really belong,or is it just a sticker?I don't think I will be taking up the offer.

Or policing unregistered, untrained, un calibrated, incompetent, tax avoiding, so called "electricians".

just an idea

im not registered with NICEIC or any other body as its not required in my job, but i'm guessing apart from those who have to join one, the only people who are happy to do so is the Electrical Trainee who probably think it adds credibilty.

You're in luck then, if you do any work at home you can get an experienced Part "P" guy off here to do it for you knowing it will be a job well done with all the appropriate paperwork in place

Unfortunately this is the way things seem to be heading, this is the nature of the beast…this is the reality we’ve created....... this, is the time of the parasite. …..…more and more the parasitic worms are flocking, massing to feed off the hapless victim, contriving together sometimes, but always, always, with the intention to suck, to feed, to grow, to lay more eggs and re-infect.

The victim or (fool) has no natural way to fend them off, and worse still, has no awareness that the parasites exist - that they are essentially and ravenously feeding off him, they require him, they need him, they adore him…… In-fact, the fool believes that they, the parasites, are his salvation, they are his servants, in his control, they are helping him survive, without them he would falter, be lost, be nothing…….and the scraps, the slops, vomited from parasitic jowls, are all he deserves…. cos anythings better than nothing ..........They sense this ignorance, apathy and helplessness and gather, waiting, scheming, squirming in the dark shadows, hiding behind safety, law and the fear of no work, they promise the carrot and they threaten the stick, but they deliver nothing, give nothing free, they have no real power but, they feed. Always empty, always feeding, always taking, stuffing themselves, gorging, devouring, looking for weakness, looking for the fool…..

Be prepared, be frightened, but be ready, because, the mother of all parasitic worms is evolving, slowly emerging out of the slime covered chaos, invisibly cloaked in the fools ignorance and inability to think for himself, the path is being readied and paved, course by course, amendment after amendment, stone by stone and book by book…….paid for by the fool, scrubbed clean and kept free from obstacles’ as the fool scurries along his merry path of life from cradle to grave with one hand in his pocket and the other tugging his forlock…I give you the Employment Agency in association with the NICEIC and sponsored by Twisted Trader (all rights reserved and an absolute necessity for registration)
Small print…. (or the ability to ply your trade will and must become non-compliant with fines and probable bloodletting, whilst being dangled over the head of Emma Clancy with ye old throat cut type thing, performed by Tony Cable whilst being fluffed by Dave Austin, in a special video to commemorate the new national NICEIC r*pe an electrician day every day forever)

ha did my own board change, theres no way i'm paying someone to do what i can do, unless its gas.

My company is with Elecsa at the moment, I have our inspection next week. I have been with NIC, they are as useless as all of them IMO.

This will be the last year I pay to be registered as "part p" because I do not want to be put in the same bracket as Electrical Trainee and plumbers, kitchen fitters, builders etc. No offence to them, but I'm sick of paying to register jobs that I dont really understand what type of register they are going on? If people sell their house, they only need to show the certs I gave them. People get my certificates, with my company name, address and phone number, so there is a paper trail should they need to contact me in the future.

Cant wait to tell Mr Elecsa and see what his argument is. 95% of my work is through recommendation, so no one will care if i have one of there badges on my letterhead or not.

if we all stood up like that , the scams would be forgotten in a few months.

All fine and dandy if your work doesnt fall under Part 'P', unless you go the LABC route of course!

"Governments should be scared of the people, not people scared of the governments."

What is stopping anyone of you doing this? No one ever has called me and said," I saw your details on Elecsa/NICEIC website...."

What's wrong with rated people?
I was thinking about contacting each sparky in leeds on it to see about a mate's job or if one would take me on as an apprentice if I paid the.£500 a year course fee

As has already been said, it is the nature of the beast and was inevitable ....IMO you have two choices, either accept and comply, or think for yourself...unfortunately the correct choice may come with an unfounded in reality feeling of insecurities about getting work, although if enough electricians decide to think for themselves who knows.

Rated people should use this slogan;

"Rated people, turning tradesmen into cold callers since 2011."

Hey I see there is an NICEIC Engineer lurking in the browsing this thread bit...Im getting nervous now:chinese:

Rated people should use this slogan;

"Rated people, turning tradesmen into cold callers since 2011."

or "Turning tradesman against tradesman for money since 2011"

Come on then NICEIC engineer, give us the reason behind this, no point hiding now.

I cant speak for the NICEIC but Im sure there is a very strong case for how this is going to benefit its members.

"Think not what the NICEIC can do for you, but what you can do for the NICEIC" ...... or should it be the other way around?

rated people already a globule beast, most jobs I go to thay have already got a rated people in, when its fixed they all ways ask "why are you not with rated people" answers is the bloke that Puckked it up in the first place was

@ No31 post..........So it comes to this, waiting for the 2am kicking down the door and I finally dissappear hooded and tied, without a trace, but wait...what if I offer to register with the dark side, they like the glint of gold I think, with their lovely, ever so slightly, ---- type marketing insigniar, oh the red and the black and their wonderfull subtle slant on my way or the highway, Im so glad they wrote the regs and everything, I may even become a raped people oops rated people person.

Am considering my future as regards paying for Part P compliancy too..looking over my last 2 yrs work (for which I have paid over a grand in fees ) there were precious few clients there who gave a monkeys about 'P' or who for that matter even really knew about or understood it. I am wondering what exactly would have happened had I not notified those jobs at all? very little I suspect..and if I just certificated as normal and installed to the regs as normal, the only charge that could be brought, would be 'failure to notify' or whatever...has anybody ever actually been charged with that? come on fellas we really do need to stand up to the parasites...and as for RP..I have been trying to remove myself for some time now but the DD's keep coming...time to up my game I suspect..!

Im lucky. Almost all work is through word of mouth / recommendation. Im pleased to say I have never had to use such services as Rated People.

I think it works for some, not for others. I guess if you are starting out it is a good place to go as you have no reputation or customer base to work from.

but they are just like many services throug history, a middle layer, that put one person in touch with another and charge a fee. They do not achieve anything more than that. The worker is still required at the bottom (or is that the top?) to actually do something.

If you can avoid the middleman you can earn more!

its not an unusual phenomenon. Estate agents are middle men, employment agencies....etc etc.

well at least some good. estate agents are not now top of the list of the most hated. no.1 goes to rated people ( and all the other leeches ). no.2 is the scams, and estateagents are demoted to no.4. below the new no.3........ call centres.

Anyone know what the actual fine scale is for not notifying work under Part 'P'? e.g. change a consumer unit and dont register it, assuming of course that was your agreement with the householder!

Maybe the scams could tell us, seeing as they seem to think we need them to this work and notify it.

Actually the worst thing about RP is that a lot of the jobs simply don't exist, they are just lazy householders vaguely thinking they might do something one day & ooh I wonder what that would cost? Many times I have paid £11.40 for a lead that simply doesnt materialise and now there are no refunds for bad leads! I have tried to remove myself from their books but so far to no avail!

The last I heard was around £500 per offence but that was a few years ago so was wondering if anyone had some current info! Not that I know of anyone who has been prosecuted so cant say for definite.

I think a good idea would be for a group of us to start our own company to rival them.

The only thing stopping us is our lazy selves.

I would be happy to get a logo designed, buy a company name and put anyone on there that could prove competence. When it becomes non profit, you would find that not so many fish would slip through the net. There are some fantastic electricians on here, not only that but i gather they all care about this once respected trade.

I know there will be many people that believe this isn't possible, but how do you think they all started in the first place? One good idea, a good following and some hard work, and we could get it back to what it should be.

I suspect that is becuase the councils never asked for extra paper work and have had trouble just emptying the bins and maintaining a bank balance at zero or above since. So its not even on the radar.

Well IMO.... its illegal to speed and in most cases I comply, its illegal to take certain drugs and in most cases I comply, it is illegal to earn money without paying tax where due and I always comply :yes:but whether its illegal to install a new circuit to BS7671 and provide an EIC but not notify well who cares, I dont, the client doesnt, the notification cert says bugger all on it anyway, the LABC probably file theirs in a bin anyway, so I suppose it might be a waste of money being registered.....but would it hinder me working if I was not registered and couldnt or wouldnt afford it.......nah I'd carry on and earn a living doing exactly what I do now, to the best of my ability and would wipe away the guilt by just thinking about those well respected and honest bankers, MPs, estate agents, police officers etc etc who all follow the rules.

What about notifying a non existent job in your own home, getting the cert through. Then you have a template what one looks like. From there copy it onto your PC and issue one with your certs. Would anyone ever actually go that far to check?

now then...that adds forgery to the list of offences..like your style!!
