Discuss Portable appliance testing in the Electrical Testing & PAT Testing Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

I have a tool that saves a lot of time and money when it comes to "PAT" testing, I call it "the wife"! I caught on to this a while ago when I had a lot to do. She gets all the information, I do the tests, she does the certificate and all the stickers. Its so much quicker and it doesn't cost me anything!

Don't exchange or upgrade for a newer model otherwise you'll know exactly how much the surcharge for her efforts will be....

I tend towards £2.50 - £4.16 per item but aim for a flat £5.00 per item. Needless to say I don't get that much PAT, thank goodness!

I have a company doing its rounds by me at the minute, 60p a test. Many are taking it up but have just had 6 sites come to me after originally going with them but losing faith with them. I spoke to 1 site that had them and they did 320 tests in 1 day, 1 person = need I say more. I just hope they dont get caught out by them and something bad happens. I try and keep a far price but would never go below £1.00 and charge a minimum fee for less items. I just wouldnt make a wage at them prices, but at least I can go home at the end of the day knowing the job has been done right.

i think most people who charge 50 per item are only sticking on stickers, not testing, hard to do 10 per hour in an office, amongst all the **** and knots
