Safe zones

HI,Can anyone answer a query i have.if i run a cable in a brick porch,on the house wall and within 150mm from the corner is this classed as a safe zone .the cable is rcd protected,would i need to run in conduit.the wall has decrotive pannelling,thanks

when you say in a brick porch, do you mean on the surface, or behind panelling?

Yes as per reg 522.6.6 (v) a cable can be installed within 150mm from the top of the wall or partion or within 150mm of an angle formed by adjoining walls or partion.

As the cable is RCD protected then no need to run in conduit unless the cables are singles and then they would have to go into some form of containment. Though if your burying T+E cable IMO it's best to offer the cable some form of mechanical protection and oval tube is normally used., but that's just my preference you can bury direct if you wish.

It would be behind wooden pannelling.but i thought if i run it within 150mm of the corner(created by the walls of the porch)that would be classed as safe zone

correct. safe zone, no problem
