Discuss Total Trade Services - Wales in the Australia area at ElectriciansForums.net

Sorry electricalserv I didn't mean you when I asked if you were called Brian, I meant NWSparky1. Brian or Bill I think One is the Manager for the North electricians and the other is his trusted side-kick.
As for picking up the pieces NWSparky1 when electricians leave the company thats probably because the previous electrician didn't complete the job as he did not have the parts or stock as it had not been delivered.
Trust me I'm going to do some digging and I'll find as many people as I can to bring court action against this firm. I'm going to get my accountant to dig up the financial records for previous years.
I going to report my greivences with the NICEIC.
I,m going to complain with a letter to my local MP as this is a government funded initiative and public money is not being paid out to those who carry out the work.
I,m going to report this firm to watchdog on the BBC.
Im going to go to the local newspapers ad national newspapers to make the public aware of this.
I,m going to take this to an emloyment tribuneral.
I'm going to contact the Tax office.
I'm going to do quite a lot so at least I'll be busy.

I'll not let this one go. A trip to Colwyn Bay head office next week too.

Malcolm,

I think you need to read doctordus's first post on this thread, he states he has worked for them and got paid nothing. Whilst I agree with you its not the given thing to name people and this should be retracted by editing. I think his point is that these guys are not going to get paid. the manner in delivery is understandable, for me anyway.

The actual ins and outs of this thread are startling. Question is has anyone done anything about this or are they just letting off steam. I'd be reporting them to everyone i could had they treated me that way....

Doctordus I can only sincerely apologise as I read your post as if your were the company and only after appollo (thank you) directed me to your OP did I see that you were a sinned against rather than a sinner.

I can only say that the term mouth and foot come into mind, and once more sincerely apologise for mistaking you doctordus as a company representative.

just like me malcolm, always putting my mouth into operation before engaging brain. LOL.

I happen to have seen an instal these clowns did this week, our company got the job because they done such a bad one... The plumber from our place couldnt understand why the pipe work in the loft had 20 more elbows than it should have and laughed at the state of the flue that had let alot of rainwater in. And the customer kicked the 'electrician' out because he was convinced he didnt have a clue what he was doing. Hes currently reportin this firm to whoever he can think of. Papers etc. Oh and neither of the plumbers had gas tickets

Freedom of speech I have no problem with, but PLEASE DO NOT NAME NAMES on the forum as it could get messy for everyone, including EF.

Thank you.

I must laugh Liam B as I think I Know which plumbing job you are on about. I was called to go to this property with another spark after the Guy had kicked the other spark out. When I arrived British gas, Transco, The Health and Safety Exec were all there and me and the other spark refused to take the job on as it was a total farce. It was in Newcastle.
I apologise on my earlier threads foe mentioning names - I respect the right of other peoples privacy and I apologise.

I was the first spark to turn up at this job in Newcastle...he didnt kick me out, I left after discussions with my boss. I was originally supposed to go move some wiring for the plumbers. I said I would wire the Y plan as well seeing as I was there. The customer refused to let me work past 7pm, would not let the plumbers put a plug on the boiler flying lead and was generally an obmoxious ****. Seeing as I never got there until 3.30pm, there was no guarantee that I wouldve been finished for 7 pm. He was offered space heaters or me working later than 7pm, but the guys carer wouldnt have it.
Please dont slag me off for not knowing what I am doing before you know the facts and not what the customer told you.

Aahh so you're the incompetent spark ;)

It was neither, the guys carer was a total idiot who thought he knew everything. The boiler location was tricky because of the existing wiring and soffit locations but I hadnt looked at the plumbing. The plumbers asked me to reconnect the old wiring onto the new kit but I would never do that and sign my name to it. It was the carer causing all the grief as he thought he knew everything but knew nothing. Everything I said to the client was heard by a company director and he told me to walk. I have never, ever been talked to in that manner by anyone and that guy was a total idiot IMHO. He was made offers for heating but he wouldnt budge on anyone working late.

To be 100% fair why should have people working in his home after hours? He's the customer and it should be done in his conviniece. I find that totally wrong.

I wasnt on site until 3.30 as I had already done 1 y plan that day. The office shouldve made a better job of planning the workforce really...I was there to move some cables but said I would wire the system as a favour to the customer.

This is why the company is a joke. Electricians turning up at 3 and announcing they wanted to work past 7pm at such short notice. I would have booted you myself. Utter inconvinience.

I never announced that I would be doing anything, I said that I wouldnt be finished by 7. Give your head a shake, get your facts right instead of 3rd hand and wind your neck in

According to the office, they sent 2 people the following day and it was the same type of circus. At the end of the day, I wouldve worked late to get the system working as most people would probably do. But to be spoken to in such a manner with my boss hearing every word and then threatened, I wouldve thought he will have a long wait.

Must have given the man the wrong impression

You really need to get your facts right before you try to judge people matey...any reasonable customer would usually be glad of someone working late WITHOUT OVERTIME to get them a working system. The guys attitude did him no favours and it was my boss that told me to leave. Whatever the client possibly told you is extaggerated and twisted to suit his own needs. I did nothing wrong, my boss is happy that I did nothing wrong so Im happy and will offer to work late to finish a job whenever the need arises.

I'm winding you up mate ;):p;)

i work for them and its great i only had a 3 day week last week and earnt naff all for it. travel money does not cover your diesel so costs you to go to work, it takes to long to stock your van run out of stuff all the time, they never answer the phone. sent me to a combi 2 1/2 hours from my house so in all i was out for 6 1/2 hrs for £58 was not happy. spent 2 hrs stuck in plumb centre because they couldn't put the order though properly. ring me up twice a week to see how many miles my van has done why i don't no. all in all a great place to work

what is it with bonding the bathroom radiator its not needed for like the last 10 years i will not do it looks **** too if you do do it.

I applied to this outfit over christmas, they replied and offered me an interview at Birmingham... it sounds like I am VERY lucky I didnt go!

There's other firms on warmfront etc which pay 3x the figures quoted here, and for LOCAL work!!

Just thought ill join up onto the site even though im a not a sparky but a plumber and give you my experiance with TTS.

Worked for them for 2years before getting laid off last year...

We use to work on contract's in grimsby/s****horpe on the bullock site.. everything back then was simple.. go to work, pick up our stuff and go to do our job.. In the last 3months of working in s****horp before we lost the contract.. TTS started to pay by CHEQUE and we was told this was a problem with the bank or something or other and it will be sorted for next months payment.. the cheque thing happened for another 6months.. sometimes the cheque would bounce aswell.

We then went onto EAGA work which they would send us to silly places like newcastle(im from grimsby) so a nice 3hour drive there.. Wasn't much problem at the time as they was paying for the fuel on the fuelcards and was using there van/insurance etc. Then they had a big meeting in manchester at 6 at night i belivie? We was working in sheffield that day so had to leave the job early just to get to this meeting, didnt leave the meeting till 11? got home about 1ish.. In this meeting this is were they chose to remove the fuel cards, vans etcetc.

When we had to use to pay with our own fuel etc.. its a ball ache chasing it all up.

We use to sit in plumb centre for about 3hours every morning waiting for the 'heat pack' to get sent threw or sometimes have to sit there because TTS was on 'STOP'

The guy i worked with got laid off and he is still owed about £1500. I know he took them to court.. and i know a few other people have also taken this company to court. Also know a few who have recently joined them and have unpaid wages/fuel but can't leave due to the fact they need the money.

AVOID.

As someone else has already said any firm that has a permanent ad in the job centre advertising

for vacancies. Enough said think of ALL those blokes OWED ALL that money and this will be a

trick they pull all the time. Lots will feel obliged to carry on because they are owed wages.

TTS are PONY to work for END OF NUFF SAID

i always find if you over order on van stock you can get a bit back lol need to ----- them as much as possible. i worked out that if you do 50 miles to a job its costs just under £12 in diesel and they give you £7 so your down £10 a day so thats a drum of cable in the garage a day till they sort it out i will win from the team hahaha

OK ANYONE WANTING TO REPORT TOTAL TRADE FOR ANY REASON I HAVE DONE SOME DIGGING AROUND AND THESE ARE WHO YOU SHOULD BE TALKING TO

UNISON - JOINING FEE APPLIES BUT THEY ARE THE DOGS TESTICLES
PAY AND WORK HELPLINE - 08009172368
TRADING STANDARDS - 08454040506
DEPARTMENT FOR ENERGY AND CLIMATE CHANGE - 03000604000 this is the governing body who issues policy to Warmfront and if you think Total Trade are not acting within that policy then these people need to know, SO if you were an employee of the company who got laid off then re-employed with the company but under a different name then you MUST contact this official government department.
WATCHDOG - BBC - Watchdog and give them 'your story'.

If like me you are serious in going after this company then you must make your grievance known where you can. Personally I have contacted ALL of the above and hopefully through volume of support by putting these first points of contact on forums such as this we can get a result. Do it now. Do it today. And lets beat this company, dunno about you lot but I AM SKINT and am owed £2000 off Total Trade.

how do they owe you £2000 ? i am quitting soon so would like to no if you got your last months pay ?

Pay from first and last month. Its for work done, fuel allowance, van allowance and bonus, fall back rate for days when they cancelled work. Ive already started the ball rolling with the numbers I have supplied, I suggest you do the same as they will keep going until we do.

they don't owe me anything yet apart from the odd fuel allowance but got that back in other ways. i don't intend on giving them their van back until i get full payment from them.

seems a bit strange you cant answer what i ask.....have you not received ANY pay???? if so does it match the amount of jobs you have done?? surely you have a wage slip????

Its probably not their van as most of them are hired...
Besides, you will not get anything out of them for the first month from finishing, as the jobs you have done need to pass inspection by EAGA.

I believe there are systems in place which permit you to retain equipment and materials if you are owed money? Mechanics Lien is one of them. Not looked into it in any great detail but if they owe you money and you have their van and tools or other valuable assets playing this card may at least get them to pay you quick.

Mechanic's lien - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That's an american thing, also known as a Carpenters Lien when it comes to work in houses. It doesn't apply here and we have nothing similar. Small claims or solicitors are out route.

yes i have had pay but didn't keep a record of what i have done so don't no if its right i have not had anything missing from my wages according to my pay slip. they have not given me much work anyway so not earnt a great deal. they have said work will improve in the next few weeks.

I am part of a plumber/gas engineer team who up until today worked for total trade. Have been told during a meeting today we are being made redundant aswell as many others. I understand there being no work but my greivance is I am owed wages for the past 9 months I have worked there!!! Each month I have been missing at least £250 from my pay. I contact the office to be told 'timesheets havent arrived or there not patying us for days weve waited outside plumb centre for them to fax us jobs which they always do around 5 o clock!!! ect..... but still never recieved what im owed. Numerous line managers have been 'sorting it' but even they have ended up being owed wages. If you work there now i suggest you prepare for redundancies and kissing goodbye to any wages owed. Cowboy company. Will be visiting trading standards

i am waiting for the exit meeting, i was sacked sorry laid off last week given this week as hols and told i would receive a letter for the exit meeting and i would be paid in full then but not heard anything yet. if i don't get it i am going to wakefield office and getting it in person even if it means taking computers and selling them i will get it. they are a shambles out to rob everyone they can.
i made the mistake of giving them my van key when i arrived so they could do a van check (another load of crap ) if i had keeped i would have the van now so they would have no choice but to pay me

I worked for them when they first started moving into the north west of England, about 6 or 7 yrs ago now,
was promised £95 for a combi, and more for a Y plan, and as many jobs as I could do in a week, 3 weeks in and I was only getting 3 jobs a week so I jacked,
rang them and told them to come collect the van and phone, the keys are in the post, I never got paid, and TBH I didnt care, just glad to get out when I did.
