Discuss tt system rated tripping current of RCD in the Australia area at ElectriciansForums.net

guys,

been to a house this after noon which is on a tt system. Found that the man rcd before the board has a rated tripping current of 500ma was wondering if this is correct as cannot find it in the regs also is it right that you can only do a half reading and a x 1 reading on this unit.(rcd test)

thanks for your help

i would seriously consider fitting 30mA RCD protection and utilise that useless junk just as a board isolator. believe current regs. specify 30mA on a TT.

don't forget to IR the installation first and allow extra cost if you find any poor readings

A lot of TTs going on today....

I'd say if the 500mA is on as an incomer, leave it where it is and install 30mA protection after it. It will be handy as an isolator and could be a good back up. Ideally on a TT I'd want a 100mA incomer and 30mA protection in the board.
