Hi.

I have a VALEO Alternator from a BMW M3 1997 3.2L with S50B32 engine.

I have ordered a replacement Slip ring but it does not appear to fit and I can't find an answer as to why.
The issue is the two "Pillars" on the side of the slip ring that slide into the shaft on the alternator are 1mm too thick. I have included a picture to show what the issue is .

The diameter on the spline on the shaft is 3.09mm and the one on the slip ring is 4.09mm

Here is a link to the picture :

Has anybody else come across this with certain Valeo alternators, and where can I get the correct slip ring?

Thanks.

Hi,it would appear you have been sent the wrong part, you could contact the supplier, and see if they list alternatives.

Any decent rewind shop, should also be capable of matching this for you.

Or....get busy with the Dremel and loctite
