Discuss Which 320V 32A Interlocked Switched Socket? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

I need to obtain 4 x switched interlocked 32A 230V (single phase) sockets for my garage. They are for a 28A rated welder, a large lathe and a large mill.

I'm having 4 sockets installed to give some flexibility on positioning.

However, the price of these 32A switched interlocked units varies hugely. I've seen Gewiss units being sold for ÂŁ30, MK Commando units for ÂŁ120+VAT and some costing even more than that.

Given that these sockets are not going to need to stand up to industrial type abuse and conditions, is there any real advantage in my selecting a more expensive unit?

Is there a make/model that is a good compromise?

I'd really rather not have to spend over ÂŁ500 on 4 wall sockets if I don't absolutely need to.

Many thanks in advance.

I find GeWiss a fine brand for this sort of accessory. You may find that price differences are more due to the rating for external influences than the brands.
You may want to speak with the installing electrician though before you purchase as they may have their preferred brand or be able to get discounts through their wholesale accounts you may not.

if you are on a budget have a look on ebay. theres a couple second hand/scrapped units going for cheap. some MK some Gewiss etc... all will work fine but if you smash it with some forklift it wont survive anyway.

We get all our ceeform stuff from distribution zone in hook. They have an online shop.
We use PCE brand stuff for the simple reason they make black connectors which are preferred for theatre work

Thanks! I don't expect to have forklifts driving around in my garage, but they might get walloped by lengths of wood on the odd occasion.
