I wouldn't employeeeeee either cos I work alone, unless of course one of them was female...then I,d be feel safe:smile:

The qualifications in option 1 look familiar from another recent post, are you option 1?, cant be bothered to look back..although I think you've said your option 2??

Well... qualifications on paper don't really say much.

I'd get them both in for an interview and see what they can say for themselves. The Electrical Trainee could turn out to be somebody who's been doing electrics for many years along side very experienced sparkies (nearly put blokes in there but realised that could upset some members!) and the other one could be a youngster who's good at exams but demonstrates no get up and go....

I'd go for option 2, unless it's a trick question and you're going to dribble an important bit of information in at the last minute?

well i just asked this question to see the responses, and yes i have made some spelling mistakes but thats life,

I'd invite them both for an interview (as said before)

Then, i'd make them do 'unspeakable acts' upon one another and whoever backs out first doesn't get employed.

:38: stupid / wrong & slightly weird answer to a thread that's most probably going nowhere.

Closed? :)

You might as well start a thread saying, insert negative comments about Electrical Trainee here...I did an apprenticeship btw but just seems like these boys take a bashing all the time on here, if they're that bad a) they'll lash it up and you'll be there afterwards to sort it out and have the moral high ground and b) if they're that bad fair enough we get it let's moan about something else :helmet:

My opinion.

Yes, they get a bashing - because the thing is ridiculous (i can feel this turning into a tsunami sized thread now, which the mods will absolutley love :))

I've heard people on here saying that you get lads who have been labourers / mates for years and top at their jobs, and they do the Electrical Trainee. Can see the point in this to an extent but still don't think its an excuse to not get the proper papers. You can take the 2330 or whatever it is now without having an apprentership.

You only have to look at the bottom training forum on this website, and look at how many people moan about the Electrical Trainee course and how many people are getting taken for a ride with the stupid 5k sum which offers pretty much nothing than false-hope.

As you can tell im against the Electrical Trainee scenario, don't think its fair on the hard-work the majority of the sparks put in during their training. If you can't get an apprentership, take the full time route. This is my opinion only. Lots of love. Over and Out.

the way I see it you can't put a price on experience, so if those who decide later in life that they want to pay to do a 5 week course to learn the very basics of our trade then crack on, at the end of the day they are not labelled as electricians and can only do domestic work and let's be honest there isn't much to learn about house bashing. so let them crack on. so option 2 would be my preferred option because of the appropriate training and the essential experience

What i'm wondering now, is if 2391-10 is so difficult, how come a 5/electrical trainee can pass it along with all the other stuff that's crammed into these few weeks??

Either someone is pulling the fluff here, or 2391 is an absolute doddle!!

it's only a memory test mate and a very basic practical assessment, as einstein said why bother learning something that you can just look up later? (closed book exam)
