Discuss Wylex NS804 CU in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi all, just a question please? Went to look at a job yesterday and customer wants a hob and cooker wired in but no existing cabling. Had a look at the CU and found it was a Wylex NS804 no RCD but just wanted to ask if it is possible to fit a RCBO to these boards or should I be looking at a board replacement as not seen one of these types before.
Thanks

Phoned Wylex and the only RCBO they do for this is a NSBS32/2 or NSBS40/2 but these are like rocking horse s%$t to get hold of. Does anybody know where I could get any from?
Thanks

I thought that the current NHXSB single pole RCBOs fit in the NS boards?
Why do you want to fit a double pole RCBO, a single pole would be easier to install for just one circuit.
An alternative choice would be to install a separate enclosure just for an RCD and feed the circuit through a circuit breaker in the board and out to the RCD and then on to the cooker. Though 2 module metal full enclosures do not seem to be available yet.

However if you are set on an NSBS32/2 then wentvale electrical have a C type one the should be OK so long as the cooker cable is not excessively long.

Thanks for the reply. I was going by what the expert at Wylex told me but if I can fit a single RCBO would prefer to and the length of the cooker run is only about 4 metres so should be fine with the NSBS32/2

If the breakers in the current board are NSB breakers then NHXSB breakers/RCBOs should be a suitable replacement; for the RCBOs you need to ensure that the board has enough room to accommodate the height of the RCBO, as some boards designed before RCBOs are not high enough to fit them in (and it is often a problem getting the other cables out of the way anyway on messy boards).

The double pole RCBO in my link would need to be on a baord with a right hand switch and fitted at the left end of the busbar to prevent the neutral connecting with the busbar.
