    I nearly missed this thread. I got the A and B, failed the C, in the early 70s. changed jobs and my new employer let me take it again. I really felt that I had achieved something then. It never got me any more money on the industrial side but I usually got the more interesting jobs.

    I always use the 5th core as the earth. The braiding is just extra protection. The cable itself is quite tough.

    The cable you need is called Armaflex. The one I use is the clear that you can see the braiding through. I use it a lot and use the 5 core. Not sure what size it goes up to but 1.5 and 2.5 is easily available. Cost is not bad either. Just google it. I have not got the hang of uploading photos...

    Washing Machine Pump Failing Pat Test

    Can you do the test on 250volts as I had this exact same thing on a washing machine last week,on 500v it failed but on 250v the reading was 1.49 and it passed. Depending on the machine you can get false readings. Clive.
