i have been lucky in the past where there is a mains smoke in the hallway linked in three core to a smoke on the landing I have put the smokes on with the ground floor lights then linked the smoke detector neutral onto the landing light removing the borrowed neutral

Sy dont do it, if you go there do a quick visual, work out a price for a small part that you can easily price say one db in the cellar for example give him the price just for that, ask him for money and see what happens. can of worms pubs, do you know him well, have you ever done work for him...
yes my nic inspector told me to do the same get some various resistors from maplin, i test the same socket in my house / office once a month i have also got one of those test boxes just mix it up a bit. he also told me to cross check with my mates meters a few times a year. i have it calibrated...
i had a problem like this before it tripped every time the central heating came on tho, it was then easy to find, it was the pump.
is it a conventional heating system with a seperate pump or a combi where its all built in?
