Hi guys
has anyone got a table of where to use which code of the new regs c1 c2 c3
in particular what code covers cables less than 50mm in a wall, is it c2 potentially dangerous???
any help will be great :)

No code for this in particular as long as it's in a safe zone. You would more likely be coding for no RCD protection for cables concealed in walls ≤ 50mm

I don't see what safe zones have to do with it, it's a Code 3, check page 15 of the ESC Guide that Des linked to above.

From page 15: Absence of RCD protection for cables installed at a depth of less than 50mm from a surface of a wall.......

Which is exactly what I said:

There's nothing wrong with installing cables at < 50mm so long as they are in prescribed safe zones and they have additional protection by means of RCDs or mechanical protection is what I meant.

No, the installation is compared with the current edition of BS7671 with installation date making no difference to the code attributed.
