I wonder if anyone can help...

I want to do the 17th exam (full). I have been phoning around but they all seem to want you to do the course and pay 500 quid. I am time-served, been out of the game for a while (it was the 15th when I did it!).

Does anybody know where I could just pay and sit for the exam only?

you can only sit the 17th full if you hold a jib gold card wilt out compleating the coures:eek:.... phone c&g they will give you the info you require.

I sat exam only at HETA in hull. Was less then £50 quid and bought course info off ebay. passed with flying colours

Well I´m just south of London at the moment - but I have no problem travelling a long way if it means avoiding being ripped off 500 quid.

Actually, just had a result...

Guildford College do the exam only - 68 quid.

Enrty form is on its way to me.

Thanks for all your help.

Excellent, Good Luck. If you want the 2382-10 course on disk then send me £8 through paypal and i'll send the disk to you. It has a full copy of the regs and the full course on disc.

Hi,

I did my 17th Edition in march.

I paid £85.00 for the exam and I bought the NICEIC 17th Edition training guide for £ 30.00.

What a fantastic book, all of the chaptors mirror the Regs, with questions at the end.

I passed with about 90%

Good luck

Dave

Hi Tom,

No need for JIB card.

I do have one but there was no need for it.

Private companies just let you pay and sit the exam.

What area are you in?

Cheers

Dave

Hi, i will try to find it and you can have it for free.

I will send you a PM.

For my 17th I just bought a NICEIC 17th course manual. £ 30.00.

this book runs along side the regs, with questions at the end of each section.

I passed with about 90%.

Also i can send you a web site link of a site that has 17th and 2391 test papers on it.

send me your e-mail address and I will reply.

cheers

Dave

I thought you could only do the 17th exam if you had passed the 16th edition since 2001?

If not, i thought you had to do the full course?

Does anyone know of an exam centre in Central Scotland that will take me as an external exam student. I really dont fancy paying £200 plus, and since I did an on-line mock up, got 75% despite never having looked at any of this stuff in almost 10 years, I think I am good to go.

I really grudge having to pay money for this, despite having 20 years plus in the trade, and from what I can see not much has really changed since the 16th, never mid the 15th. But since my JIB card is expired (these rules do not apply offshore) and I can not get a job on the beach without it I find that I have no ckhoice but to pay it.

Hi mate i have got all my exams for electrical and more i was only intrested in the information for teaching the course. Yes you are right in what you say tho

Yes your right but if you are up for just sitting the exam you can do the 2382-10 i.e. the full exam withnothing but to do the 2382-20 its the 2001 deadline

hope this helps

Hi Guys, I passed my 16th exam in july 2001 what course should I sit and what book do I need, I just purchased the green book.
Also does any one know of any places offering exam only at a good price?

I'd suggest you check out your local colleges.
Sometimes they will allow you just to take the exam, it used to be arround £30 just for an exam.
If you have trouble finding a local college, try Havering College in Romford: 01708 462801, they may be able to help?

My exam paper says at the top bs7671 June 2001. But I passed this exam in feb 2006. does this mean I can sit the update???

Just phoned my local college and was told because of the amendments they no longer do the exam only or the update course. I will have to sit the 3 day course instead. I'm really ****ed off as the company I work for has been saying for 18 months now that they would pay for it. But as it's taken so long I decided to do it myself. Does anyone know of anywhere still doing the exam only? Can it not be done online at all?
