I have 3 gang switch that I would like to convert to a 2 gang switch. I have no need now or in the future for the 3rd switch and aesthetically the switch will look better as a 2 gang square box vs 3 gang box.

I am wondering if there is any converter that would allow me to connect a 2 gang faceplate to the existing 3 gang box?

Are you talking about a 3g switch in a single gang patress or a 3g switch (double width) on a double pattress (same size as for a standard double socket)?

Currently have a 3-gang dimmer switch face plate in double pattress

But don’t need the 3rd switch for anything and therefore want to move to a 2-gang switch in single pattress (which will look much better in the location)

The current double pattress is well secured in a difficult wall and there are a number of junction wires

Therefore I am wondering if there is any product or method that would allow me to put a single faceplate (with 2-gang switch) on top of the double pattress box?

The new faceplate could be placed either to one side of the double pattress box or centred (from aesthetics POV)

Any suggestions will be very gratefully received!

And would then look to plaster over the portion of the pattress box not covered by the single faceplate

OK.... personally, if you're already prepared to do some minor patching/filling then I'd just remove the double gang pattress (you'll probably find that with a bit of wiggle and a bash it'll slide out fairly easily) and swap for a single one, possibly allowing for a deep / 35mm one if you've got some terminations and joints to cope with as well.

I'd go with a grid switch and keep the double back box maybe. Saves the hassle of trying to remove it.
