Hi all,

I'm not an electrician, just a DIYer who is interested in improving my own knowledge. I've been known to move a light fitting, add a fused spur or change a socket. Even when I call the pro's in I like to know how the job is being done and what sizes of wires etc (I'm probably your worst customer - although first thing when you walk through the door will be the kettle goes on)

Currently in the process of doing up the house, so I'm sure there'll be lots of 'I'm wanting to do this, thoughts please?' type questions. Hopefully not too many Newbie ones though.

Hi, I'm just writing my first would like to know/understand post now. It's all to do with what is being suggested for a kitchen refit. :)
Dave I see your occupation is a research engineer, is that researching how to refit your Kitchen? I'm not having a dig, good on you for having a go yourself. but works like that are notifiable, and as we have a duty of care, it would be remiss of me to try and advise a novice, any work will need testing certifying and notifying, so if it's a kitchen rewire you are atempting, my advice would be to employ an Electrician, better safe than sorry. you know I'm right.
