That would have been me. No idea why an earnest statement would provoke such a reaction, but I guess it's not worth worrying about.

Roofing bolts are really poor, especially the cheap ones found at the wholesalers with the 0.5mm thick square nuts. Easyfix roofing bolts are much better as the heads have deeper slots and the square nuts are much thicker. Stainless slotted screws are superior though. Flange nut the other side means one hand tightening. I don't know why roofing bolts are so popular for tray work, they don't suit the task very well at all!

Only reason I can think of for their popularity is price. Function certainly can't be a consideration.

I like the look of that, but could be a pain in 2x2" trunking.

It was designed that way? Someone needs to brush up on the CDM Regulations if it was. Did you mean roof or ceiling?

Armeg do something similar but it’s 1/4 hex and impact driver rated so can be used with an extension.

I’ve also found that 12 point sockets fit the square nuts so I can also put them on with a socket, ratchet spanner or impact driver/drill rather than with a 10mm/11mm open ended spanner. 12 point socket size varies with the nut 12mm/13mm/14mm.

This would work with a right angled drive/ratchet in 50mm trunking.

all i was saying really is that I bet there are some of the regulars on here that are really wanting to ask things at times but would not do so on here because they fear it will ruin their reputation

I'd say everyone has knowledge gaps in their area of electrical work

I know i have quite a few i work on to fill them in
