Discuss Cables in cavity of walls in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi all first post here but I don't think cables in cavities are permitted, directly through a wall is a necessity sometimes, (100mm cavity) but running 4 plus meters in a cavity, well what reference method is that.

It probably building regs that don't allow cables or pipes inside an external cavity wall.
I know plumbers ( gas n water) are supposed to sleeve a pipe that passes through an external cavity wall.
I guess it's good practice to do the same with cables.
Also, you have to seal the remainder of the hole to stop bugs crawling in and infesting your home.

Hi Nigel, welcome to the Forum !
I won't go through the negatives, but cables in vertical voids are described in the IET OSG Appendix D item (f) on page 133.
