Hi all, what a minefield! Just starting out and have recently created a quotation and iinvoice template but struggling to know where to start with Terms and Conditions. It seems some companies don't guarantee work to installations over X years old, won't cover any accidental damage, won't replace carpets, laminate fllooring, charge 9% interest on late payment... I don't know where to start, thought I'd cracked it when I printed off the invoice template! I think that when a customer receives 3 or 4 quotes, the T&C could be quite important in getting the job? Any advice, links or templates would be great, all I can find is companies offering general T&C templates at a price, could do with a specialised one for sparks. Also are there any standardised pre-work survey check lists on any of the websites such as the ESC, IET etc. Thanks for your help.:)

Just got them look great save a lot of headache especialy the part about extras, cheers shaun :D.The stuff on the nic website is usefull too.

Is there any chance you could send me a copy as well please if it's not too much trouble :)
please pm me
thanks very much

God i didn't know there would be such a demand for T&C, may be i should start charging  i might make more selling than i do as a sparky:p.

It's really a big headache for me when i started. Invoices are really a big issue for any business starter.

How do you go about it now? I only write a quote/invoice out if they request one, money is still outstanding or it's a big job and i get the customer to counter sign befor the work starts so i'v covered my back if they don't want to pay( I'v seen it happen time and time again for past companys i'v worked for just because they didn't get them to sign an agreement:rolleyes:)

At first i was writing out quotes for every job i did but it took far to much time, Lession leant:p.
