As the title says really :smile5:

If I spend a day completing my tax return can I claim back whatever my day rate is as this is a day that i would be unable to work and is also solely related to the business?

Cheers all..

don't be silly. all you can claim for is meterials used in completing the return. if you were paying someone to do it, then you can claim what you pay them. if your missus is not employed you can pay her a wage below the tax & NI threshhold.

Yes if you stop being a tight arse and get am accountant to do it.

Also you must have way to much time on your hands if you can spend a day doing things like tax returns!!

stupid boy, pike.

You should be out working - evenings and weekends are for that sort of stuff!

Or as others have said pay an accountant to do it and claim their fees!

I shall take that as a 'no' :smile5:

I guess it was a bit silly, bit like saying "can I claim for time on the forum as it is progressing me as an electrician".... you'd make a fortune GMES! And tel would be a miwl-yun-air!

I'm Rich enough thanks Steve, which allows me to spend time on here.:sifone:

Once I've managed to find the time and the inclination, my tax return only takes me about an hour. That's without any fancy computer programs or Excel spreadsheets, that's the back of an envelope, a folder which throughout the year I've stuffed all my receipts and tax documents in, and the calculator which got me through my GCSE maths.

I used to think it was that easy to. Until I got investigated.

Agree with you there. I have always used an accountant and have not been investigated. Two of my mates have been and both were doing self assessment. It's better for you to be out earning, doing what you do and let the accountant do what they do.
