A quick Google says that the temp of a clothes iron is between 180-220º C (356-428 Fahrenheit)
Is your quarts heating element within that range?

for the technical details of an iron , i need to consult a higher authority ,'er indoors. she's the one that takes it off the fire when it's hot enough.
