You have suggested a sensible solution,it will leave the existing sockets as safe as they were when they were on a needless ring final

It may not be an ideal way to wire a radial(if you were starting from new) but 2 branches should be ok
It even has advantage in that the final Zs will be lower than if it was conventional socket to socket jobbie
