Evening all,
Second post of the night, first was over at the Trainee Forum side to request access.
So here I am, took a three month sabbatical at the beginning of this year from my previous position. Decided I'd like to retrain as a sparks, so paid for a course and currently divide my working week between two days studying (distance learning with practical blocks every so often, the first two week block is due at the beginning of the year) and three days working without pay for a local sparks (I emailed several companies and said I was happy to work for nothing in order to gain real experience of the job to complement the studying!)
Looking forward to getting involved with the forums and asking lots of questions (including progression once I am qualified) as my initial thoughts have been that whilst I want to cut my teeth on domestic work such as changing Mrs Miggins light fittings or trouble shooting another DIY hatchet job, I'm pretty keen on looking at moving into cutting edge/larger projects.
Had a great first month of on the job experience, going from chasing out and working out what a Henley block is, to helping rewire a shell of a property and currently about to finish off my first full ring main circuit from start to finish (which included learning to embrace the darkness under the floor of a house and not being claustrophobic!).
Look forwards to making some new friends over the course of the next few weeks, months and years through the forums.
Warm regards,
Vinny
