considering career in renewables/pv

hey guys firstly my name is Charlie im a Royal Navy leaver and am currently considering starting a course with ATL as Domestic Renewable Energy Engineer with PV. i am a qualified marine engineer but i want to live in northern ireland were im from so thinking of going down this route.
As im very new to this, and only just registered with this site, any information on the course, the career and job prospects, or anything else would be very much appriciated.

Hey

If you already have an electrical background you can quickly waste your money on courses like these. The best qualifictions to get are the city and guilds electrical qualifications and then to gain experience of renewable systems by practice or physical learning with an installer.

In my opinion these courses are not for people with a mechanical or electrical background, but then again i have never actually done one!

P.V is useless in N.I as it requires sunlight to operate, your better off looking at rainwater harvesting :44:

Only joking of course, I have family in N.I , it does seem to rain everytime i'm over there though, just as well the pubs are good!

To be fair there are not a lot of Jobs at the moment, I have around 5 installers asking every week.

Not too sure about NI, but here in the England if you have some savings and want to spend it all then renewables is the quickest way to spend it, and you will have little to show for it, well apart from lots of paperwork...

As an installers this is, the customers are still getting great returns but there are too many of us
