Hi All im Luke i have my MCS asssesment tuesday has anyone recently done one have anything to look out for please
Make sure your calculations for the job you will go to add up acording to the mcs figures. no good relying on software I was asked to manually calculate it in front of assessor - i had the head of renewables come out for my assessment and he was thorough. around 4 hours in office then half hour on site! made the point that if somebody complained about your install and the figures when the NICEIC/Napit calculated them in the office using the standard mcs figures are different to your ones on the software or manual then you have no defence...
make sure you have a sub contractor agreement in place even if you dont use them... technically scaffolders count as subbies, basically has to say you will follow mcs rules etc
lables- the mcs assessors love stickers and labels...
cable identification is a another they love to pick up on. especially on the dc + / -
the install you will go to - have the inverter guide to hand. i was asked to check whether inverter needed an rcd or not... space around inverter on wall.
know your way around the qms you have in place and have all the docs to hand or linked.
make sure your insurance mentions solar pv on it... just saying electrical contractor isnt enough.
other than that they arent there to trick you or catch you out.

will be easier next year as scheme is changing
