I got some old bricks I can lend you, but they're propping up the Ford Escort in the front garden at the moment.

I only have to look at a wall and it just disintegrates, my mate who I work with is a bit of a nancy and can get a box sized hole out with about 2mm all round the sides (guess what he gets to do!:)

Yep, I agree with the above a bit. However, to the OP I do know what you mean, and SDS drills can be a bit brutal. I find if the brick starts breaking up trying to fit a 25mm box, then I go more gently at it to try and get a deeper box in.

If the brick is completely knacked I normally opt for sand cement. I do like the sound of using rapid set though.
