Good afternoon all, I've come here looking for some advice / help with my training, especially studying at home

How do you find the best way to study and actually take in the information ?

Im currently just finishing my first year at college and have recently passed my 2365 202 exam

I have the Trevor Linsley book at home and one of my main problems is taking In all the information and actually remembering it !

Could any of you more experienced guys give any tips on how you found the best way to study ?

thank you very much

John

All that I can suggest, is that you regularly take part in discussions here and on other forums, ask questions regarding areas which you are not to clear on, and ask people to explain themselves when they give answers that you have trouble understanding.

John,

It can be a bit daunting, especially when you look at the regs book for the first time! Don't stress about that too much (if you are!). For remembering stuff take notes obviously, read books, get on the forums regular. Don't take what people say on forums as the definite truth...check it is true yourself, that way you will learn more.

The IET exam success books are pretty good. Part P Doctor is another good read for newbies, has loads of piccys. GN3 and GN8 maybe too.

If you any queries then Google it. The answers may not be correct, so if you see conflicting info then you have to work out what is correct.

It will all start to sink in eventually, honest!

Im not nearly as experienced as most of the other users of these forums but I picked a few tricks up during my course.

Write things down by hand. It seems to sink in better that way.

Don't overcomplicate.

If you know any electricians, ask them questions even if they seem stupid. Half of the battle I had was trying not to look stupid to people in the industry by asking what I thought would seem like stupid questions.

Good luck with your training mate!
