Discuss Hi Guys, is there a requirement for the metre isolator switch to have metal enclosure? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Ok, I'm going to question this.

421.1.201 Within domestic (household) premises, consumer units and similar switchgear assemblies shall comply with BS EN 61439-3 and shall:
(i) have their enclosure manufactured from non-combustible material, or
(ii) be enclosed in a cabinet or enclosure constructed of non-combustible material and complying with Regulation 132.12.

Aren't the isolators classed as the above?
I tried to find the BS number for the Wylex 2 way isolator but couldn't find it on a few sites.

If there was then the meter would have be metal enclosed as would the cut out.
And Henleys and the like.

The meter and associated equipment is the responsibility of the network and supplier. They have special powers that prevent their equipment from being inadequately installed or catching fire.....
