I want to join an 8mm flat twin cable to a 6mm round twin.

I am looking to join 2 cables for an outside security light. The mains cable on the existing light is 8mm flat twin. But the new light is a 6mm round twin.

I can't rewire as it goes into the wall to the socket. So was looking at an ip66 connection. But can't find one that does both sizes.

Any advice appreciated.

From your description I believe the flat twin and earth is 1.5mm2 (make sure there is an earth... a bare copper conductor between the other two)
The round flex will be 1.0mm2

There should be ip rated joint boxes that cope with both. Any local wholesaler should be able to help.

You could perhaps use a Wiska box, e.g. size 308, they come in a few colours, I typically use black outside but sometimes white or cream.

These boxes take screw-in glands, 20mm dia., and you can get glands for various diameters of round cables, also glands for flat twin & earth (1mm2, 1.5mm2, etc).
