Discuss Incomming Shower Cable too short in the Australia area at ElectriciansForums.net

Went to look at wiring up a new shower last night but the customers old shower had the connections at the bottom and the new one has them near the top.

Consequently, the previous DIYer or (ahem) Tradesman, has cut them tighter than a Gnat's Chuff.

Is it O.K to just join out in the shower unit as I would assume it is IP rated or do I need to remove tiles & chase out to join under the floor??

Cheers Guys

Hi

If you have the space within the shower unit then it would be fine to extend the cable using the correct rating of terminal block. It will be accessable and within an IP rated unit, no problem.

Use a mechanical connection i.e. a crimp, to extend the cables within... I would normally use some heatshrink as well just to make the job look tidy
