Hi, i've just bought a honeywell cmt927 wireless thermostat which was advertised as voltage free. The boiler is a Biasi 28S combi, about 8yrs old.

I was advised by biasi to get a volt free thermostat. From what biasi advised it sounded as though the connections from the boiler to relay needed to be volt free. As i have no knowledge on this subject does anybody know if this is correct and if so is the honeywell cmt927 suitable or does volt free simply refer to the fact that it doesn't require the thermostat to be wired in?

Thank you

A volt free contact is just a set of contacts that uses a voltage source within a set range from another from another device. The contacts are typically used by one piece of electrical equipment to control another, so the action on one will cause the other piece of equipment to operate.

In the example of your boiler & thermostat, a signal is sent from the boiler to the thermostat via the relay as yours is a wireless stat, and if heat is called for the thermostat sends it back and the boiler fires.
