Any of you good people using the fein multi tool. I admit to being sceptical. Does any one use them and are they a viable alternative to having a comprehensive hand and power tool collection. Any thoughts ?

Kind regards all

Well I don't own a Fein but have the Bosch 10.8v version. It certainly has its uses and has gotten me out of quite a few scrapes. Not a necessity but I'd rather have it than not.
It has not replaced any of my existing tools, just complemented them.

The cost :greedy: of the blades is just plain crazy though.

i have the fein 110v. excellent kit, but as ^^^^^ blades are expensive.

I've got a Fein Multimaster and it's excellent at what it does. Aldi were doing a deal on blade kits a while back at reasonable prices and they are lasting well. Look out for it, it's bound to be repeated again this year.

I've got the Bosch 230v version which was only £40 from Focus a couple of years ago. It's great for cutting holes in plasterboard and for generally nibbling away at timber, and for cutting floorboards close to walls where you can't get in. Blades last longer if you don't force the tool, just be patient and let the tool do the work.

I've the 240v Bosch (Green one) and it's helped on more than one occasion to get me out of a problem. blade prices are high but have heard that you can get cheaper ones from here...... Shark Blades

Cheers,
Lofty.

Thanks very much for that. I have heard the blade prices are expensive. Will have a look at the Bosch. Ant excuse for a new tool.
Many thanks

The tool itself is brilliant. The expensive blade problem can be sidestepped with a universal adapter (£5), that way you can use any make of blade even the ebay cheapies.

Got the Bosch PMF180e and yes, the blades are expensive especially if bought individually, so look around and there are cheaper multi packs and "copies" available.

I wouldn't be without it because when I need it, I need it!!

I've used the fein for the last couple of years and it really is amazing. It has taken on floor boards, joist notching, very tough old oak and all the normal softy stuff like plasterboard too. It takes no end of a abuse and with the addition of that universal adapter as mentioned above it's worth having a tool that'll last all the strains of onsite life!
