Hi everyone I'm a young budding electrical engineer working a lot with 3 phase panels contactors, relays, motors, and various switching equipment. Was just wondering if any if you guys would happen to no any decent books out there on the fundamentals of the panels and fault finding. Thanks for your help :D

It's something I learnt on the job, but am also interested if there are books on the subject. I'll look around. Are you working with plcs?

So far iv only come across old school electrics the odd inverter but I would imagine I'm going to come across a plc or 2 in the up and coming years, mainly its all run of relays the big Orion removables few run on timers pressure switches contractors overloads rarely come across soft starts most of the equipment is on gear boxes any way.

It's sounds like you're in an interesting place. You can read up on plc fundamentals online. You obviously understand how most components work, what you could do is try to get your hand on wiring diagrams and schematics to help you understand how it all come together in system your working on, thus aiding the fault finding process. I'm sure there'll be many variations between manufacturers and installation.

while i am in the US I can help a bit with this.
I am an industrial electrician and i work with automation all the time.
there are many resources that can help you and you can google them easily
one i recommend is the siemans step courses These are free but they do have some good info you could use
they cover everything from basic electricity to plc/ slc, and panel building, switchgear etc.
I will post some more links later for you

I've a couple of eBooks. PM me if you want to take a look at them. I haven't yet thoroughly investigated the contents, thus I can't promise anything, but it should be of some help.
