Just bought a megger 1720 for the company , today was the second day of using to test a domestic property for some reason the auto continuity test has stopped working, I've checked to see if i could get an insulation reading with the leads shorted , the reading bounces all over the place.
I've tried resetting it numerous times ,checked the fuses , pulled the batteries out and put back in and still no joy . then when i plugged it in to a socket to loop test , it gives no voltage and no test .I've tried pretty much everything . no fuses have blown it still turns on and off it allows me to go through all the spanner functions .any one else had similiar problems ?

I'm afraid megger have been having no end of issues with their new MFT.

There are numerous threads regarding the problems encountered all over the forum.

As it is so new, you should receive a free repair from megger without question.

In the interest of balanced debate:-I bought a MFT1720 last week and I have taken it through all the dead and live test a few times now and the experience has been satisfactory. Plus the back lit display works and a big improvement on my old 1552.
