Well..

Ive had the opportunity to get a job with the national grid for a jointing apprenticeship 15,500 a year start then after 3 years 26,000 a year with the opportunity then to do a engineering degree and become a Senior Authorised Perosn at £60k / Year + car

My question now is, is there that much money in owning your own business... like its going to take me around 6 years to get to the 60k a year bracket and thats IF im clever enough and IF it all goes to plan if not could take longer..

Is there more money in running a business for 6 years if it becomes successful?

Or is it all gambles, a business could earn more BUT then it could also still just stay the same struggle through each year on about 20k a year...?

Cheers guys

you forgot to mention with the job, you get holidays, a pension, company vehicle, and countless other benefits. it's a nightmre trying to get a motgage when you're self-employed. take the job.

Yeah true thats what im thinking doing, take the job and at start do work on a weekend or afternoon dependent on size.. Have a free car! Hopefully be all good will have to wait and see wish me luck!!

Take the job, I'd rather be earning 60k working for someone else than 60k with my own business. Not just reasons that tel mentions but the stress of running your own business, the fact your never really off work etc etc.

£300+ a week while training ain't to be sneezed at.

If you don't want to do it, let me know and I'll do it! :) That's a great opportunity, especially in the current economical climate. Go for it mate.
