It sounds like the only appliance that passed had no on or off switch. Don't forget that the appliance has to be in the "on" position to get a reading.
 
no but the line does . your PAT tester is measuring the R1+R2 of the appliance so there must be a loop, line/cpc.
 
Sorry swordfish - typo error, and I missed the apostrophe - black star for the wall chart eh!

What is it that "kind of makes a loop"?

I'm a bit puzzled, I thought earth bond test was to find an acceptable resistance reading from earth pin on plug of appliance to its casing (being Class I, that is).
 
Markie have got the Metrel Betapat Plus what is the easiest way to understand codes i am new to this (am not a sparks) but have passed G AND G finding it difficult to match codes to appliances
