20131227_154309.jpg spotted this yesterday, having nothing better to do after being bribed into a trip to local garden centre.no way could you consider the cage to be extraneous or an exposed conductive part of the heater. FFS.

Unless your name happens to be Cockburn, of course.

thats introducing a potential Tel...and needs removing does that bond....

i know that. you know that. any decent spark knows that. but try explaining to the customer. same with those lethal socket covers.

Glenn for me as a trainee what do u mean by a potential and how would this happen, cheers??
e basically, it's introducing an earth potential where you don't want one. if a person was to touch a live part and this earthed ( bonded) metal cage, he'd then get 230V across him. if it were not earthed/bonded, then he'd be like the bird on a cable - not earthed so not fried.

A local council near me used to insist on bonding between sockets and nearby radiators. Utterly ridiculous.
and it will have been someone sat on their arse behind a desk (probably took the C&G2382 once upon a time) who decided it would be a good idea...without even a thought as to wether or not what they were proposing to bond was even extranious...

think it was painted, not plastic coated. then again, didn't look too closely. was more concerned with trying to pi$$ on it from the urinal 8 feet away.
