I fitted a PIR sensor light to a detached garage sitting at the top of the drive, then changed to a seperate Sensor feeding the light.
I am having/had problems with them detecting correctly.

The garage is on the left of the house looking from the front, 1M away from side of house, and about 1 M back from from front edge of house, driveway slopes away from the garage at 45 degrees to the garage across the house frontage down to the entrance.

I suspect the problem is the slope,

The sensor trips correctly when you step from the house across to the garage, but is very inconsistent when moving up the angled sloped driveway, if you walk 90 deg across the driveway then the sensor mostly trips but still not consitently,

Does anyone know of any decent sensors that may be suitable for this type of layout.

The other option is to fit sensorlights to the wall of the house, or fit sensor to wall of house with wire round house and across gap to garage.

Other option is wireless battery sensor transmitter fitted to driveway wall (pain in neck and costly to get wires from house and down the wall) operating wireless reciever light on garage, has anyone used these before and how long do the batteries last.
any advice would be great.

you may have to opt for a narrower beam coverage sensor. these will do better in the situ. you have described.
