Hi anybody know if its possible to get metal plaster depth boxes where the 3.5mm accessory screw is encased, as they are in surface boxes and plasterfix boxes so as to prevent tilers screwing back through cables. Never given it much thought before but it makes sense.

Not quite sure I follow what you mean?

I know what he means but really don't see a need for it. As if tilers bother screwing back accessories ! And I usually wait until tiled before second fixing.

I think the back boxes in about 1960/70 had nylon lugs and they extended all the way down the depth of the back box, but I do not think they are made any more, certainly haven't seen any for sale, but China are probably still making them!

I see what you mean, but no I haven't seen any new ones just the old nylon ones. I always second fix before the kitchen is fitted and tiled and fit yozzy boxes, nothing worse than second fixing leaning over kitchen units

I spent SIX hours cramped into a stupid little space where I couldn't even get my driver into to 2nd fix an 18way grid box the other day - all because the kitchen fitter decided to move some stuff about. THEN, the f*ing tiler took all the front off and bodged the depths on the yokes so I had to spend another hour messing about making it all nice and flush again!

Rock was NOT happy that day. :41:
